I spent months working 12 hour days sanding floors and tearing down wallpaper with one child strapped on my back and the others crawling into the playpen. Ha! It was beginning to make sense, but wasn't quite done. It would take time, money and of course my favourite shopping experience to furnish this house. My sons, my husband and I were looking for the hidden treasures at estate sales to ensure that my spending was under control. Our weekly routine was to walk from Thursday through Saturday through garage sales to purchase a mix of antique and brand new furniture as well as spending weekends painting and sanding the driveway. The look was a little similar to the following... Here's the place where my passion for restoring antique furniture started. When our home was furnished I couldn't quit! There was a spot in the market in which I sold my items. Eventually, I had too many pieces to store in the space available. The number of people who visited my house in one weekend to buy everything that was on the ground. Growing Days was founded in my home. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our family of four. I was trying to find that perfect balance of what it was like starting a business as well as a mother too. Growing Days just fit. Nora, my 4th kid was born in the year 2013. My business was going well but I wanted a rest. I took a break from creating vintage furniture and slowed down my pace in order to stay at home and raise the children. It was the right time. But after a couple of months without a phone, it began to ring. Calls came in asking me to help them with interior decor and home renovations. The majority of them were people who had been through my property during open house for furniture! It wasn't long before I managed a large-scale house renovation business. The first step was to take clients with a speed I felt comfortable with. You would probably have laughed at me had you had said that this would become the basis of a DIY Network tv series. Actually I still kind of amused when I think of the idea.
